When I first decided to start a blog back in like 2017 I had all of these plans to write about Braydin’s arthritis adventure and keep everyone updated via a blog. Well, life is hectic, and as 2020 has proven things don’t always go according to your planner. There is so much that needs to be updated, but when I first started I had no idea where to start. I got overwhelmed and quit.
Then I had to find something in exchange for blogging as a hobby, I decided to start crafting. First, it was kindness rocks and then canvases and now I’ve been doing stuff with my Cricut machine and making stuff with resin. I know not everyone enjoys those things so I figured that I would make this a place where I could post those along with hopefully some tutorials that way I don’t clog up my Facebook feed with all my projects.
I have several friends that would love to do some of the crafts that I do, but just like me when I attempted to start blogging they just got super overwhelmed and don’t know where to start. Hopefully that’s where I’m going to come in and be able to walk you through the process. If I can do it I’m pretty sure my 5 year old can do it.
There’s a lot of things that I like to do. I may not be there greatest at it but like my blog line says “World’s okayest advocate, blogger, crafter, and deal enthusiast.” I love advocating for my son Braydin, you can find his story under Braydin’s Brawlers link. There it will tell you about our journey getting him diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis at the age of one. Yes, you read that right rheumatoid arthritis kid’s get it also.
On top of being an advocate and trying to spread awareness about that I have decided to take a stab at blogging again so that not only do I have a place to post all my crafts for other’s to see I can help them with crafts, and maybe even help them save a buck or two while earning money from their purchases. I think it’s safe to say that 2020 has been an eventful year for just about everyone.
During this eventful year I chose to stay home and not put my kids in daycare since the kids had an extended Spring Break with everyone being quarantined the rest of the year. With Braydin being a high risk immunocompromised child I couldn’t risk his exposure to COVID so we stayed home and home schooled. Well then that meant that my boyfriend, Spencer, was the only one bringing in income at that time. After awhile though that wasn’t enough and I had to return back to work during the summer. At that point we spoke with the rheumatologist and they recommended that since COVID is still so new and unpredictable that it would be best if neither child returned to school for the fall semester. This meant we once again had to homeschool. Which meant Spencer or I had to stay home with the kids and we had to go back to a one income family due to life circumstances. While it worked for us for about 4 months here we are in a bind because COVID. I did mention that it’s been an eventful year and things haven’t been going according to my planner right?
Getting COVID definitely was not on my list of things to do this year, but here we are. So now we are stressing due to me having to be out of work for two weeks and have no income coming in. So then I started thinking of ways that I could make money from home and I remembered hey you have a blog that you could utilize and so then the research began. Spencer’s mom, Lisa, has been trying to get me on board with doing affiliated marketing stuff and I just never looked much further into it until last night. Hey Lisa! I’m finally jumping on board! While stressing about bills and researching affiliated marketing just kept popping up so I dug deeper and found Amazon’s Affiliated Marketing program where I can post a link to products and you as my readers may sometimes get a code to get things cheaper. The best part is that if you purchase something through one of my links I can possibly get commissioned for it so then that will help me out and you’ll be able to get a cheaper price as well. I don’t know about y’all but I love a good deal and if I don’t have to pay full price I’m not going to. So that’s where the deal enthusiast part comes in. Not only do I get to notify you as my readers about good deals, but I’ll also possibly get a commission off of the purchase. I’m legally required to tell you that.
This is all fairly new to me; however, I think I’m prepared to jump in head first this time. While 2020 has been hectic. It hasn’t ALL been bad. There have been some amazing things happening for my family. Spencer, myself and the kids were able to get moved into a 3 bedroom apartment so the kids can each have their own rooms even though Braydin hates it. I finally graduated with my Associate’s degree for Business Administration through Tulsa Community College. I was only working for that for 10 years, better late than never. My custody battle which had been going on for 3 1/2 years finally has come to an end that we both agreed upon. My sister was able to move closer to home which she’s been planning to do for a few years now. Oh and my parent’s were finally able to build their dream house! This year has definitely not been the best of years but it also hasn’t been the worst either.
This year has taught me a lot, and one of those things is that sometimes just sometimes it’s okay to just be okay at something and that’s enough.
If you have any questions, comments, ideas you would like to see a tutorial about, or just whatever. Let me know in the comments! I can’t wait to start this journey again.
